Silky sharks get their name from tiny projections or denticles on the skin that create
a silky feel when you run a hand along the side. It's body is rather slender with small
eyes and pointed snout, with teeth that are nearly symmetrical. Coloration range from dark
to blackish along the back shading to off-white on the sides. Pectoral fins are long and
narrow. A truly offshore species shark they tend to feed up and down and can be seen
cruising the top water or caught in depth over a 100 feet. the are a very powerful and
sometimes big shark. They see their targets and hit them with great momentum easily
snapping inferior tackle. So those seeking one of these species of shark should come well
equipment with tackle up to the challenge. Although the meat is edible it is not one of
the better tasting of the shark species. Best to let him provide you with a challenge, get
