Found throughout the Texas bay systems. The lesser ray has the unique
ability to deliver an electric shock, hence the name. Fortunate for fishermen the ability
is rarely used. Like most rays, the lesser like to bury himself in the sand. He grow to
about 12 to 15 inches and feed on mostly marine worms. Although able to produce an
electric shock when provoked, he does not have any barbs in the tail like many of his
cousins. For food value unlike some of his cousins he is not much for the pallet. So when
hooking up with him, best advise is to cut the line and let him go about his business.
